NOTE DE PROGRAMME

TRADUCTION DISPONIBLE SOUS PEU

The main objective I had in writing this piece was to explore sounds bordering the limits of noise, pitch and silence. This research has led to different results, like the violin gestures of the first section, the shaping of sustained notes with glissandi and vibrato variations and the various timbres possible with the bass drum.

The biggest challenge in such writing is to transcribe what you hear in a way the performer can make sense of it, and in a way he/she can play it successfully. The perfect opportunity to overcome this challenge is through repeated experimentation and collaboration with professional musicians. Indeed, during the Young Composers Workshop, I feel I have certainly gained knowledge and precious tools from the feedback and advice of the experienced musicians of Arraymusic.
